Former First Lady of Georgia, Sandra Roelofs, says third president Mikheil Saakashvili is a political prisoner and as a citizen of Georgia she fully joins the demand for his release.
“Mikheil Saakashvili is a political prisoner and as a citizen of Georgia I fully join the demand for his release,” Sandra Roelofs wrote on social media.
The former First Lady also talked about private life and noted that the content of the video released by Mikheil Saakashvili a few days ago, where he introduced his new Ukrainian partner, Lisa Yasko, was unexpected for her.
“Many confused friends and comrades are asking me about my private life. I will not hide from you that the content of the video released on Friday evening was unexpected to me and the form was completely unacceptable.
“Despite my personal emotions, I remain calm and believe that we will emerge victorious from this battle,” Roelofs wrote on Facebook.
Notably, Saakashvili’s current partner, politician Lisa Yasko, a member of the Ukrainian legislature, arrived in Georgia yesterday to visit the former president in prison. She also stated that Saakashvili is a political prisoner and added that “Ukrainian people are jealous that Georgians had such a patriot president.”
“He has a big heart and fights tirelessly for his homeland. You, Georgians, should support him in this fight and protect both him and your future,” Yasko told the media.
