The Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, condemned the visit of the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, to Sokhumi and noted that if a similar step is repeated in the future, it may even lead to the severing of relations between the two countries.
“The visit by Aleksandr Lukashenko to Sokhumi is an unfriendly act and a serious breach of Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. We can all agree that adopting such actions jeopardizes the nation’s sovereignty, fundamental principles of international law, and the diplomatic ties between Georgia and Belarus. The Belarusian side should be aware that if this action is repeated in the future, it could even result in the breakdown of bilateral relations. Nobody shall be permitted to compromise the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country,” Samkharadze stated.
