Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze commented on the cancelation of the meeting between the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, and the Secretary-General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg. Samkharadze noted that as he is informed, the reason for canceling or postponing the meeting with Garibashvili was Mr. Stoltenberg’s health condition.
“He had a Covid and because of that, he could not take part in very important meetings last week and earlier this week. The only meeting that Stoltenberg had was with the representatives of Finland and Sweden, who formally applied for NATO membership, and all other meetings except this one were canceled. This is the information we have from our Embassy in Brussels. I rule out that the cancellation of this meeting is related to Georgia’s domestic political issues,” Samkharadze said.
