MP Salome Samadashvili held a meeting with the PACE Monitoring Committee and spoke of the importance of compliance with the 12 EU recommendations.
“The opinions of the Council of Europe and its assessments are of crucial importance in this process called the assessment by the EU of the quality of compliance with the 12-paragraph requirements by Georgia. We give a negative evaluation to this process conducted by the Government, which means that at present, none of the requirements are fulfilled in fact; however, we consider that the refusal of EU candidacy will have grave repercussions on our country. Thus, at the meeting with our European colleagues, we touched upon the leverage that can be applied to intensify the pressure on the Government, and besides, to ensure that the right obtained by the Georgian people to become the citizen of the EU member state will not be annulled or lost due to the Georgian Dream,” Samadashvili stated.
