Representatives of the Russian occupation forces illegally detained a Georgian citizen in the vicinity of the occupied village of Sinaguri, the State Security Service reports.
“Representatives of the Russian occupation forces detained arrested a citizen of Georgia near the occupied village of Sinaguri.
Upon receiving the information about the mentioned incident, the State Security Service activated the hotline operated by the EU Monitoring Mission. Information about another illegal detention was immediately reported to the co-chairs of the Geneva international discussions and international partners.
All available mechanisms have been activated to release the illegally detained Georgian citizen as soon as possible.
Responsibility for all destructive actions committed on the occupied territories of Georgia, as well as along the occupation line, rests with the occupying power,” reads the statement released by the State Security Service.
Georgian citizens are periodically detained by the Russian military on the charge of illegally crossing the “border”. They are released after the activation of the hotline of the EU monitoring mission and payment of a fine.
