The City Hall announced that traffic restrictions will be in place in central Tbilisi on October 19 due to the ‘Tbilisi Cup’ cycling race.
As the municipality stated, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., vehicle movement, including public transport, will be completely restricted on Rustaveli Avenue, from the Olive Tree area to Freedom Square.
During the restriction period, drivers will be able to use Leonidze, Ingorokva, Chavchavadze, Griboedov, Baratashvili and Tabukashvili Streets as alternative routes.
Access from Melikishvili Avenue to Mtatsminda will be available via Janishia, Tarkhnishvili, Tatishvili, Chovelidze, and Zandukeli Streets, and further through Barnovi, Gogebashvili, and the Kakabadze Brothers Streets.
In the reverse direction, vehicles traveling toward Melikishvili Avenue and the Rustaveli metro area will be rerouted through Griboedov, Makashvili, Barnovi, and Shanidze Streets. Traffic at Freedom Square will be restricted only in the direction of Rustaveli Avenue.
Cars traveling from the Rustaveli metro area toward Freedom Square will be able to turn around near the Olive Tree and continue their route via Mikheil Javakhishvili Street and the right bank of the Mtkvari River.
During the restriction, public transport will operate via an adjusted route: buses and minibuses will move from Merab Kostava Street to Baratashvili Street through Mikheil Javakhishvili Street and the right embankment, returning the same way in the opposite direction.
