Rally to be held again in parallel with discussion of the “Russian” law

Today, May 1st, since morning, the discussion of the draft law “On transparency of foreign influence” is continuing in the second reading – article by article.

Voting on the draft law is planned today. The work of all media, except for television, is still prohibited in the parliament.

At the same time, the citizens living in the regions in the social network are planning to come to Tbilisi in order to participate in the protests against the Russian law. From 12:00, a convoy of citizens is set to leave Batumi for the capital.

Citizens from other cities are going to come to Tbilisi with organized marches, so they can join the action planned in front of the parliament in the evening.

The self-organization of citizens started after the “Daitove” group was created on the social network on April 30. In the group, citizens in Tbilisi offer those who wish to come to from the regions accommodation, food and travel expenses, and help in other needs.

The organization of the arrival of citizens living in the regions to the capital was accelerated by the brutal dispersal of the protesters at the rally held yesterday, April 30.

Throughout the night, the special forces used tear gas, pepper spray, and water jets against the civilians, the special forces beat the participants of the rally, among them, they brutally assaulted the chairman of the National Movement, Levan Khabeishvili.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs says on April 30-May 1, a total of 63 people were arrested during the protest against the Russian law.
