Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree simplifying the entry and exit procedure for Georgian citizens, Russian media reports.
The decree, signed on October 10, allows Georgian citizens, including students and those arriving for work, to stay in Russia for more than 90 days.
Previously only certain categories of Georgian citizens could remain in Russia for extended periods, while workers and students had limitations. The extension comes into effect immediately, from the date of signing.
This move follows the Russian government’s decision in the spring of 2023 to lift visa requirements for Georgian citizens, facilitating entry for all Georgian nationals, but until now excluding workers and students from the longer stays permitted by this new decree.
