Public Defender Levan Yoselian responded to the murder of Kesaria Abramidze.
“I want to express my sorrow for the fact of the horrible murder of Kesaria Abramidze! First of all, I offer my condolences to the family and relatives and I hope that the culprit will be punished in the shortest possible time.
“This fact is further proof that the response of the law enforcement agencies and society to the crimes committed on the basis of hate and gender identity should be particularly strict”, he wrote.
Kesaria Abramidze, a transgender model and public figure, was killed at her apartment in Didi Dighomi last night and an investigation has begun, presuming the case to be a murder under Article 108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Beka Jaiani, 27, has been taken into custody for the murder of the 37-year-old model.
Law enforcement detained Jaiani soon after the crime and retrieved a knife as the murder weapon.
