Public Defender Levan Ioseliani met with the striking employees of Evolution Georgia.
As Ioseliani explained, they will soon make a decision regarding the alleged discrimination. In addition, he explained that he will do everything possible to reach an agreement between the parties.
“From the first day of the protest, we started studying their issue on our own initiative. We also published several public statements, where we called on both the employer and the labor inspectorate to resolve the issue.
“It is about labor discrimination, permission to protest and so on. We will make a decision soon on the discrimination allegations. We can’t mediate directly, we do not have the mandate to do so, but we will do our best to reach an agreement between the parties.
“From the information they have shared with me, they are talking about degrading working conditions, alleged forms of discrimination, and they are discussing the creation of such an environment where the employers might be confrontational. Everything needs to be studied. The labor inspectorate has the authority for this, and we have the authority to deal with possible discrimination. We are actively working in this regard,” Ioseliani said.
For the record, a number of employees of the online casino Evolution Georgia went on strike on July 12.
The main demand of the strikers is decent working conditions, starting with a salary increase.
In addition, the participants of the strike are demanding more time for breaks, improvement of sanitary and hygienic conditions in the workplace, a safe and comfortable working environment, provision of healthy meals and food vouchers in the workplace, improvement of the insurance package, and an environment free from discrimination and degrading attitudes.
