Following a large-scale protest in occupied Abkhazia on Tuesday, members of the “opposition” were released from detention. However, the situation in the occupied Abkhazia territory is still tense.
The opposition announced a large-scale demonstration for November 15 to protest against Russia’s increasing influence in the region and the recent investment treaty signed between Russia and Abkhazia that will allow Russian companies to enter the Abkhazian market on preferential terms.
On this day, the so-called government of Sokhumi will be discussing an investment agreement with Moscow.
It is not yet known how the president of the separatist republic, Aslan Bzhania, will calm the situation. Some experts note that the most logical solution would be to postpone the ratification of the agreement with Russia.
