Protesters on Rustaveli last night held a symbolic performance. A coffin was ceremoniously carried along the avenue, containing “Ivanishvili”. This was then laid to rest in front of parliament and set alight.
Protesters said it signified their wish for Ivanishvili and Georgian Dream to give up their authoritarian hold over the country.
While some found it amusing, it is a very real symbol of the anger and frustration people are feeling right now in Georgia.
Riot police were not in attendance at last night’s protest, but several individuals were arrested by patrol police throughout the city.
