Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze conducted a post-election briefing this morning, stating, “The Georgian people made the only choice that had no alternative; they chose peace and the country’s development, its bright, European future.”
He claimed that the ruling party had garnered a record 1,200,000 votes, and described the elections as “peaceful,” alleging that opposition-leaning television crews had staged provocations.
Kobakhidze expressed gratitude to the Central Election Commission for “administering the elections flawlessly,” and thanked the members of the commission. He emphasized his appreciation for the Georgian people, who, he said, had “expressed their trust” in the ruling party.
“The fate of peace for Georgia was decided in these elections, and the ‘consumers’ of peace will be all Georgian citizens, without exception,” he said.
He then promised to deliver significant economic development over the next four years.
“Peace will bring unprecedented development to our country in the next four years,” he stated.
