The police should remove the violent gangs of “old boys” and drug addicts from the polling stations… More response and timely response is your responsibility! – Georgia’s president Salome Zurabishvili posted on social media, speaking in response to multiple reports of heckling and squabbles outside polling stations.
In a video address, President Zurabishvili expressed frustration that the presidential administration could not reach the Interior Minister or his deputy. She once again urged for a more prompt and effective police response to prevent tensions at polling stations.
The President also extended special thanks to the media covering the election sites and encouraged citizens to make use of the last four hours of the day to go out and cast their votes.
