President’s Parliamentary Secretary Giorgi Mskhiladze said that the President of Georgia will veto the draft law “On transparency of foreign influence.”
He claimed that at today’s session of the Parliament’s Bureau, they raised the issue of not registering the said draft law, “the promise of which was made last year”.
“Everyone saw the reaction to the initiation of the said law by the majority. This was responded to by both the European Union and the Secretary General of NATO, our strategic partners, the United States of America, who pointed out that the adoption of this law would hinder Georgia’s path to European integration, therefore, we requested the bureau not to register the said bill at all, so that the consideration of the said bill would not start in the committees. We requested, in general, to stop talking about this law, which was promised last year that the said law would not return to the Parliament. The President will, of course, use her constitutional right and veto the said law”, Mskhiladze said.
