President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili discussed the issues related to the European integration of Georgia with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Annalena Baerbock.
The President of Georgia stated at the meeting held in the Orbeliani Palace that the population of Georgia will not understand a second refusal regarding the candidate status of the European Union and will consider itself abandoned by Europe in such a difficult situation.
The President emphasized the importance of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia’s partner country, as an expression of Germany’s continued support for Georgia’s independence and European integration.
“During my last visit to the USA, I had a telephone conversation with the President of Germany, who confirmed the unwavering support to Georgia, and your presence here is a clear confirmation of that,” the President of Georgia told the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
Annalena Baerbock claimed that she is in Georgia because she wants to see Georgia and its population in the European Union.
“That is why I am here and this is what my government supports. Georgia needs to continue reforms in order to get the candidate status,” Annalena Baerbock said.
