President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili reacted to the events taking place on Rustaveli Avenue and stated that the government’s insistence on passing the ‘Russian Law’ against the will of the population and amid the protests of its partners is a direct provocation and a Russian strategy of destabilization:
“The second day of the mass protest in Tbilisi against the Russian law. The government’s insistence on passing this law is a direct provocation against the will of the population and the protests of its partners — it is a Russian strategy of destabilization,” Zurabishvili wrote on X.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia used special means against the participants of the ongoing peaceful protest near the Parliament.
Several protesters were taken to emergency crews after police allegedly used pepper spray on them. Several demonstrators were arrested by the police. Among them is “Lelo” leader Irakli Kupradze, who wrote that the police abused him during his arrest.
