The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, during her visit to Paris and Brussels, in an interview with France 24, commented on the statement of Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili where he noted that Georgia does not join the sanctions imposed on Russia. “To be honest, I would not have made such a statement,” Zurabishvili said.
“First of all, I don’t know why he said it. It goes without question: Our country is already sanctioned by the occupied territories. I do not know what type of sanctions we could impose that would matter. I do not think it makes much sense to make such a statement. To be honest, I would not have made such a statement. What is important now and what is expected from Georgia is solidarity, and I came here to show it to President Zelensky. The Georgian people have been demonstrating this very clearly,” Zurabishvili said. The President noted that Georgia expresses absolute solidarity with Ukraine.
