The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili stated, that, fortunately, Georgian society has expressed its position very clearly, using all forms and means to prove its full solidarity to the century-old friend – Ukraine.
She emphasized that if the Georgian government is not represented in Kyiv, the President of Georgia undoubtedly should have been in Kyiv today.
“I believe that if the Georgian government is not represented in Kyiv, the President of Georgia should have been there undoubtedly today, and I expressed my readiness to go. Unfortunately, I did not receive an invitation to do so. Instead, despite the invitation, Parliament did not consider it necessary to send an official delegation. I am sorry that, as a result, we are represented in Kyiv today only by the opposition, although I am still glad that they are there. It is clear to everyone that Georgia does not have such means of assistance as much stronger European countries, which are given security guarantees by the borders of the European Union and NATO membership. Suppose our solidarity is mainly expressed on a moral level; in that case, we must defend our principles even more strongly,” Zurabishvili said at the event dedicated to the anniversary of the Ukrainian war in the Orbeliani Palace.
