The Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with the President of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, Maritxell Batet.
The Speaker thanked Batet for supporting the territorial integrity of Georgia and highlighted the importance of the Resolution adopted by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress of Deputies.
The Parties underlined the necessity of intensification of the parliamentary links, including at the level of the Committees and Friendship Groups; in this context, the parties gave a positive assessment to the visit of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress to Georgia in July 2022.
Papuashvili and Batet hailed the increasing positive dynamics of cooperation for the last 30 years in the bilateral and multilateral formats. The conversation touched upon the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the security challenges in the Black Sea region and Europe.
The Speaker informed his Spanish counterpart about the fulfillment process of the EU recommendations by the Georgian Parliament. Ms. Batet stressed that Spain intends to further support the territorial integrity and European future of Georgia.
