President Salome Zurabishvili made her first public statement following the October 26 parliamentary elections. The announcement was preceded by a meeting with opposition representatives.
She claimed that the elections were “completely falsified.”
“I thank all the voters who voted for the European future of Georgia. There were too many of you. You won this election, and no one has the right to take this European future away from us,” she said.
“I thank the people who fought in the commissions under very unequal conditions, for protecting your vote.
“I thank the journalists who fought in even worse conditions to ensure that all violations were recorded as well as possible. There were so many violations, in so many different forms, that it was practically impossible to capture them all.
“We witnessed something very unusual. It was a total fake. A complete taking away of your votes, using all the techniques we’ve seen and using modern technologies. There has never been such a thing. We were witnesses to and victims of a Russian special operation. A new form of hybrid war, carried out on our people and country”, said the President.
