Political parties signed the “Georgian Charter” presented by the President of Georgia today.
The signing process started at 11:00 in the Orbelian Palace.
The document is signed by a large number of opposition parties, although there are parties that have question marks regarding the issues mentioned in the charter and are not going to sign the charter at this stage. Among them is Girchi, one of whose leaders, Iago Khvichia, said that consultations with the President are necessary regarding the document, as well as Ex-PM Gakharia’s party For Georgia.
The “Georgian Charter”, which implies an action plan, was presented by the President on May 26, and she offered the political parties to reconcile around it. In addition, Zurabishvili stated that the agreement around the “Georgian Charter” does not require and does not imply either a single list or any other form of necessary associations. Based on the charter, the government recruitment process will be carried out in coordination with the President.
The charter talks about “repeal of laws harmful to the European course of the country”, liberation of the justice system and restoration of trust, improvement of the electoral system and creation of a new political reality.
