The Sejm of the Republic of Poland has appealed to the authorities of Georgia to give Mikheil Saakashvili the necessary treatment, one that meets global standards. The above was stated in the resolution of the lower house of the Polish Parliament (Sejm) relating to Saakashvili.
“Due to disturbing information about the dramatic condition of the former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, including medical diagnoses that confirm his rapidly deteriorating health, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland appeals to the Georgian authorities to protect the universal principles of humanitarianism, according to which human life and health are the highest value”, reads the resolution.
Polish MPs demand that “Saakashvili be immediately given the necessary specialized treatment in accordance with global standards”.
The resolution notes the ex-president’s statements that after treatment and rehabilitation, he is ready to return to the country for further adjudication of his cases in the court.
The Sejm notes that while appealing to the international community for solidarity and persistent actions to save the life and health of Mikheil Saakashvili, it took into account Saakashvili’s “significant contribution to the formation of pro-European attitudes of Georgians, as a result of which the Georgian Government applied for EU membership in 2022”.
