PM: We Plan to Tighten Regulations, Permit Procedures should be Strictly Controlled

The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili stated the government is to help the families affected by the collapse of the building in Batumi.

“I want to once again express my condolences to the families who lost their family members. It is a great tragedy for everyone. The government of Adjara has done everything; we, the central government, will stand by them so that, as soon as possible, everyone is given residential apartments. In addition, they will receive monetary compensation in order to arrange appropriate conditions in their homes,” the PM said, noting that it is planned to tighten building regulations so that no such tragedy will happen again.

“We plan to tighten the regulations even more. In general, the permit procedures should be strictly controlled and such a mistake should not be allowed a second time,” Garibashvili said.
