Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili promised that not a single Republican Hospital employee would lose their job at the celebration of the State Universal Health Care Program’s tenth anniversary.
The PM claims that inaccurate information about the facility is being deliberately spread.
“In recent days, a lot of misinformation circulated, which is purposeful falsehood. No employee will be laid off or lose their income. We have a clear vision of how to develop the Republican Hospital. We want to construct a new hospital in the same location and keep all the staff. There is no reason to worry,” he said.
The medical staff of the Republican Hospital held a protest on the territory of the clinic. They demanded a meeting with government representatives and answers to questions regarding the future of the clinic.
The authorities are going to demolish the Republican Hospital and build a new clinic in the next few years. The Republican Hospital is located in one of the most attractive and expensive places in Tbilisi, on Vazha-Pshavela Avenue.
On behalf of the employees of the clinic, a statement was released last week, where they call on the authorities not to demolish the Republican Hospital.
Giorgi Dundua, the head of the intensive care and resuscitation department, told the media that they are interested in a concrete plan regarding the rehabilitation of the clinic and the preservation of jobs.
