The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili made a statement regarding the 11th anniversary of the founding of the Georgian Dream party, noting on April 21, 2012, Bidzina Ivanishvili presented their political team to the public for the first time. The PM noted that this event was the beginning of “the most important processes in Georgian political and public life.”
“Let’s remember that this was the most difficult period in the recent history of Georgia. The anti-national, anti-state, and anti-European regime had turned fear, terror, oppression, and violence against its own citizens into the main weapon of politics. Not only the democratic development of the country but also the life, dignity, and freedom of each person were at risk. A regime that betrayed its own people sought to maintain power, even at the cost of destroying the country. We must admit, many did not see a way out of this situation. It was under these conditions that Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia was created under the leadership of Bidzina Ivanishvili,” Garibashvili stated.
He added that after the restoration of independence, this was the only period of continuous peace. “Today, we are witnessing significant progress in all areas of prosperity, social justice, and democracy,” Garibashvili said.
