Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze, Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze and Vice Speaker Kakha Kuchava will be involved in the talks between the government and the opposition, mediated by the European Union in Georgia, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced at today’s briefing after meeting with Christian Danielsson, Personal Representative of the President of the Council of the European Union, Charles Michel.
“Based on the decision of our team, the chairman of the party, the chairman of the parliament, and the vice-speaker will represent the ruling party Georgian Dream in the talks. I would like to confirm the full readiness on behalf of our team and party that we will be a result-oriented party that will make concrete decisions,” Gharibashvili said.
“Mr. Christian Danielsson is paying a visit to Georgia. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the involvement of President Charles Michel in this process. The involvement of President Charles Michel is not a systematic and frequent case in relation to other countries, and his and the EU’s interest in us underscores how important our country is to the EU. Therefore, it is, of course, an expression of trust in our country, our state. This places a great responsibility on us – all actors: the government and the opposition,” he added.
Today, Christian Danielsson met with President Salome Zurabishvili and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili to discuss the current political situation in the country.
He will also hold individual meetings with opposition parties and the leaders of ‘Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia’ this afternoon.
