“Germany, which has traditionally distinguished itself as a responsible state, should not send such ambassadors to a country like Georgia. An ambassador who makes anti-Georgian statements is not valuable to us!” – this is how Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze responded to the statement of Peter Fischer, the German Ambassador to Georgia, who said during his speech at a Science Foundation event that the Georgian government has deviated from the European path.
PM Kobakhidze claimed that this statement was anti-Georgian.
“We were just talking about the party Lelo, and we remind you that he went to the pre-election campaign with Lelo in the region, he came to Bolnisi with the leaders of Lelo. In light of such frivolous actions, I cannot attach much importance to this man’s statements. This is a very sad event. Germany, which has traditionally distinguished itself as a responsible state, should not send such ambassadors to a country like Georgia.
“An ambassador who makes anti-Georgian statements is not valuable to us. This is an anti-Georgian statement and I hope that this is the personal position of the ambassador supporting Lelo,” Kobakhidze said.
As the German ambassador said, Georgia has actually moved from the advanced ranks to the last place among the 10 candidate countries for EU membership.
In addition, the ambassador spoke about the government’s anti-Western rhetoric and its conspiracy theory about the Global War Party.
German ambassador claimed that the government is trying to sow fear towards the European Union, while the idea of the European Union is based on peace.
He added that when you declare that you want to join the European Union and present it as a dangerous and global war party, the question should be asked whether it is possible to continue the relations as before.
