The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili congratulated society on Abkhazian Language Day.
“Abkhazian language, culture, and traditions are an integral part and richness of our common, diverse culture. Along with Georgian, the Abkhazian language is protected by the Georgian Constitution and the state has a special obligation to preserve and develop it.
In the conditions of the illegal policy of occupation of the Abkhazia region and the current Russification, the Abkhazian language is in serious danger of disappearing. The Georgian government is taking important steps to save and protect it, to promote its development and to popularize it,” Garibashvili said.
He noted that for the cultural identity, preservation, and development of the Abkhazian language, it is important to make a united effort to get more young people interested in learning this unique language.
