People’s Power MP on sanctions: Main partner made another gross mistake, black day of Western democracy

This is gross interference in internal state affairs and pressure on state institutions – we would rather be sanctioned than our citizens, and especially young people, receive invitations to war, – People’s Power MP Dimitri Khundadze said while talking to journalists about sanctions.

Khundadze claimed that American sanctions are a prerequisite for the Ukrainian “Maidanization” in Tbilisi as well, which will inevitably lead to the development of war.

“The main partner made another gross mistake. This is gross interference in internal state affairs and pressure on state institutions. When the legislator is sanctioned for the adoption of the law – it is unacceptable, it is the reverse of democracy and the black day of Western democracy. When [Lazare] Grigoriadis is pardoned because he committed violence, it is abetting violence, and when a police officer is sanctioned, it is obstructing the prevention of violence. Such an attitude is unacceptable. This is a prerequisite for getting Ukrainian “Maidanization” in Tbilisi as well, which will inevitably lead to the development of war. Because the reality is like this, we prefer to be sanctioned rather than our citizens, especially the youth, receiving invitation letters for war. Therefore, we will protect the sovereignty and independence of our country. Society and government are the main armor and shield to ensure that the country’s interests and public safety are protected, that there is peace in the country and that there is no war.

Since this is the reality, we, the legislators, prefer to be sanctioned for the adoption of the law, than to allow destructive events to develop in the country, to accept the Ukrainian “Maidanization”, war, and inviting our citizens to war. Of course, we will not allow this. This effort will be with even greater efforts and our team will be mobilized even more and we will fulfill the commitment that we have taken that there will be peace in the country”, said Khundadze.

He claimed that despite his contrary attitude, his son-in-law is in the US, although he is not going to give up the country’s interests and sovereignty because of this.

“Although my attitude is the opposite, my son-in-law is in the US. But this does not mean that because my family member is in the US, I have given up the interests and sovereignty of my country. It is not possible to determine the attitude towards the country by the vector of family members”, said Dimitri Khundadze.

For information, Matthew Miller, Spokesperson for the US Department of State, announced that the United States of America has implemented a new visa restriction policy on dozens of Georgian citizens.
