Pawel Herczynski the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, stated that his personal opinion is that Georgia will receive EU candidate status.
“The European Commission is preparing a report. This will be the first report on enlargement for Georgia or a report containing recommendations, and it will be published in October. Then, at the end of the year, the leaders of 27 member states will hold a meeting at the highest political level and decide what further steps should be taken regarding Georgia’s application for joining the European Union.
“My personal opinion is that Georgia will get candidate status, but it is extremely important to use the remaining time until the end of the year to make maximum progress on the 12 priorities. It is also very important that good news comes from Georgia,” he noted.
