The Parliament discussed with the III reading the Draft Law on Special Investigation Service and adopted it with 8i0 votes, against 1. The Draft was introduced by Rati Ionatamishvili, stating that it has not been amended after the II reading.
The Draft regulates the subordination of the SIS and in case of the detection by the ECHR of violation of any of the rights envisaged under the Convention, assigns the SIS to hold the investigation instead of the Prosecutor’s Office.
The changes are to be introduced to the Laws on Personal Data Protection; on Assemblies and Manifestations; and on Public Service, as well as the Code of Administrative Offenses and the Rules of Procedure. The Draft increases the social protection guarantees of the Personal Data Protection Service.
The package has been developed by the Working Group set up at the Legal Committee in view of the fulfillment of the EU recommendations.
