The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has adopted a resolution addressing the political situation in Georgia. The document, entitled “Uphold Democracy and the Rule of Law in Georgia,” was put to a vote during today’s plenary session.
Out of 77 delegates, 68 voted in favor, seven opposed, and two abstained.
Ahead of the vote, several amendments were introduced and incorporated into the resolution. Among the most significant was an amendment voicing concern over reports that former members of the Georgian delegation to PACE could face criminal prosecution for their votes or activities within the Assembly. The resolution underscores that delegates cannot be prosecuted for statements made or votes cast in the course of their duties, and it calls on member states to take all necessary measures to prevent such developments.
Other provisions of the resolution remained unchanged.
