An official welcome ceremony for the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, was held at the Orbeliani Palace in Tbilisi, marking the start of his state visit to Georgia.
President Aliyev was received by Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, with the two leaders expected to hold a face-to-face meeting as part of the official program.
The visit also includes high-level talks with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. Georgian government announced that Aliyev and Kobakhidze will meet both privately and in an expanded format, followed by joint statements to the media outlining the outcomes of their discussions.
As part of the ceremonial agenda, President Aliyev is scheduled to lay a wreath at the Heroes’ Memorial in Heroes’ Square, honoring Georgian soldiers. He will also pay tribute to the memory of Azerbaijan’s national leader, Heydar Aliyev.
The visit reflects the close political and economic ties between Georgia and Azerbaijan, with discussions expected to focus on bilateral cooperation, regional connectivity, and energy partnership.
