On October 11, the world celebrates International Girls’ Day. The decision to mark International Girls’ Day belongs to the United Nations.
In 2011, the United Nations General Assembly voted to pass a resolution adopting October 11, 2012, as the inaugural International Day of Girls.
The aim of the day is to focus on social issues and inequality caused by gender issues, access to education, health care, protection of social rights, protection against discrimination, violence, and the forced marriage of underage girls.
Each year’s Day of Girls has a theme, the theme of International Day of the Girl Child 2021 is ‘Digital Generation.’
