Russian occupation forces unlawfully detained three Georgian citizens near the village of Khurvaleti in the Gori municipality, the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) reports. One of the detainees has been released and returned to territory controlled by the central government, while the other two remain in illegal custody.
Following the incident, the SSSG promptly activated the EU-mediated hotline and informed the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions, as well as international partners.
“All available mechanisms have been mobilized to ensure the swift release of the detained Georgian citizens. The occupying force bears full responsibility for all destructive actions in Georgia’s occupied territories and along the occupation line,” the SSSG stated.
