Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the situation surrounding Georgia’s local elections, calling it “a sad day for democracy.”
In a statement on X, the ministry said the OSCE/ODIHR’s inability to observe the vote and the government’s failure to act on past recommendations were ‘deeply regrettable.’ It also criticized the use of violence, repressive laws and the jailing of opposition leaders, noting that such actions “undermine trust in Georgia’s elections.”
