The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) welcomes its new Resident Representative in Georgia, Nick Beresford. On 24 September, the newly appointed UNDP Head paid an official visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and met with First Deputy Minister Lasha Darsalia.
“I am privileged with this opportunity to serve in Georgia and with our team here contribute to the country’s democratic, human rights and development progress,” Beresford said. “I am joining at a challenging time when the country needs to overcome the pandemic crisis and move forward to achieving its sustainable development goals. UNDP is committed to supporting the Government of Georgia and its people through this transition, working closely with our national and international partners.”
Nick Beresford is a development professional with over 20 years of experience with the United Nations. Before taking office in Georgia, he held senior UNDP positions in Cambodia, Bangladesh, Somalia and East Timor. He also served at the United Nations headquarters in New York (USA).
Nick Beresford has a professional background in economics and holds degrees in development economics, accountancy and English literature.
