Today, a trial was held on the issue of postponement of the sentence for the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili. The next hearing will be held on December 22, at 11:00 a.m. in the city court.
“One month has been requested by the representatives of the penitentiary service, and I really don’t think that one month is needed for this. Given that we have to discuss health-related issues, I think this issue should be discussed and ultimately resolved within a reasonable timeframe. Therefore, taking into account all this, we suggest that the next session be held on December 22, at 11:00 a.m.,” said Judge Giorgi Arevadze.
Saakashvili was not given the opportunity to attend the trial either physically or remotely. The penitentiary service refused to involve him remotely in the process, and the “Vivamed” clinic refused his physical attendance.
