Georgian people should have the right to peaceful demonstration, – US State Department spokesman Ned Price announced at a briefing.
“During the last few hours, we closely observed the developments in Georgia. We learned from the reports coming from Tbilisi that the demonstrators, who protested the so-called foreign agents bill, were opposed with tear gas and other means.
“Our message to the people of Georgia, to the government of Georgia, and to people and governments around the world is that the United States stands with all those who peacefully express the universal right – the right of assembly. So that their voices are heard, so that they speak freely, and hold their governments accountable.
“We will continue to monitor the situation in Georgia, but our message is that peaceful demonstrators should have the opportunity to use this right peacefully. This is a right that the people of Georgia and the people of all countries around the world have,” he said.
