Every sixth Georgian is likely to emigrate, finds a new study by the National Democratic Institute (NDI).
To the question – How likely or unlikely is it that you will goa abroad for work in the next 12 months? – 15% answer that it is likely, 82% say that it is not likely, and 3% do not know the answer to the question.
In addition, according to the research, the desire to leave the country is relatively high among young citizens and men.
The study notes that almost every sixth citizen has a family member living abroad who sends them money regularly.
For information, the survey was conducted between March 17-23, through telephone interviews with a nationwide representative sample of Georgia’s adult population, excluding occupied territories. The March poll included 1032 completed interviews. The average margin of error is +/- 2 percent.
