The number of visits by international travelers to Georgia increased by 226.4% in December 2021 compared to the previous year. The number of tourists accounted for 89.9% of the total visitors and soared by 239.1% annually, reported the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
According to the National Bank, the largest contribution to the growth of visitors from the countries of the region came from Russia, Turkey and Armenia.
The number of visitors from EU countries increased 6.6 times, contributing 14.9% to the overall growth. In particular, the number of visitors from Germany, Poland and Lithuania has increased. Among other countries, the number of visitors from Israel is noteworthy, both in terms of growth rate and high contribution to the overall growth.
NBG added that the number of one-day visits during the reporting month also increased significantly.
