The Australian company Huskee has been present on the Georgia market from the beginning of 2023. Production of Huskee cups itself began in 2015. By the end of 2023, real single-origin bean to bar chocolates from Africa and Europe appeared on the Georgian market, including Mesjokke, Blanxart, Original Beans, Latitude, Ocelot, Georgia Ramon, and others. To find out more, GEORGIA TODAY talked to Gagi Nartkoshvili, the owner of Husk.ge.
Tell us about the Huskee products customers can buy from you.
The main value and idea of Huskee is that it is a natural product, made from recycled coffee husks, and does not change the flavor of the coffee, as for example plastic or paper cups do. Huskee’s main policy is to minimize the use of disposable cups in the world and to introduce a culture of reusable cups. For example, in Australia and New Zealand, the use of disposable cups was prohibited from 2022. Besides being a recyclable and natural product, Huskee’s visual and functional design is very sophisticated. Its design and structure stand out in any environment, both in the natural environment and in nature. The design itself is so charming, it is the favorite coffee cup of ladies all over the world, as well as in Georgia. 85% of sales are to women.
Beside Huskee cups, we do offer Craft Chocolates. Our craft chocolates were created with the philosophy that all these brands grows and produces cocoa in Africa or South America and cocoa production and processing is done entirely by the African or American population through Fair Trade. That means it is forbidden to pay less than what is established, it is forbidden to employ children in the plantations, etc. Our chocolates are sugar-free and gluten-free; only a few products contain sugar, and that is palm sugar, which is natural and quite expensive to produce. The price is also reasonable: We tried our best to offer exactly the price that people traveling in Europe can spend on our chocolates, and we are very proud of that.
What makes a Huskee product special?
The main thing that sets our product apart is design and practicality. The most common question is what is it made of and does the liquid leak from the cup. The answer is no, it does not. And cups are made with the remains of the products that we consume, that is, we drink coffee from a coffee product.
At this stage, we have Huskee cups in two colors, Natural and Charcoal. The Huskee Range covers sizes from Espresso to hot chocolate/latte. 85ml – 450ml. We also have a selection of Saucers and caps. For the New Year, gift boxes have been added to our website, which combines a large selection of Huskee and craft chocolates, which is an unforgettable and impressive gift for all people who appreciate quality and timeless design!
Tell us about your future plans.
Our future plans are to make Huskee cups more accessible throughout Georgia and to minimize the use of single-use cups in the country. For example, 30% of litter in the streets of Tbilisi comes from the so-called disposable cups, which are sold by absolutely all takeaway establishments and which are not recycled. That is why we are preparing to establish the practice of exchanging cups in Georgia, HuskeeSwap, which means that you can go to your favorite cafe with your cup, and there they will take your order in the same and another cup. This practice exists in almost all European countries, especially in Great Britain.
