Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has said he is ready to end his hunger strike.
Saakashvili posted on his Facebook page: “I address all Georgians: The actions of the authorities are a planned assassination operation from the first day of my hunger strike to the present day. Vladimir Putin is the one who ordered this assassination. The footage released today, which clearly shows who is the winner and who is on the side of darkness, is severely damaging to the government itself. It seems like a paradox why the government published these shots. however, this paradox has a completely clear explanation – to make the Georgian patriots extremely angry, so much so that subsequent provocations will lead to civil strife, followed by Russia’s entry into and occupation of the country under the guise of neutralizing the ongoing threats along the border,” says Saakashvili.
He noted his hunger strike is already becoming a weapon of the struggle between the Russians and the current government, not against him, but against his country.
“In view of the above, I have decided to consider the request of the Strasbourg Court of Human Rights, as well as our Western partners, and end my hunger strike. With only one consideration: the process of rehabilitation after starvation is much more complicated than the process of starvation management, therefore, Gldani Hospital has neither the technological conditions nor the properly qualified medical staff. In addition, it is unthinkable for me to trust the staff of the institution who keeps me in torturous conditions. Today you saw the video footage describing the violence against me. In addition, there is no guarantee of safety and protection from psychological pressure, which is also a requirement of the Strasbourg Court. I also consider Gori Hospital to be the biggest threat, as the Russian occupation army and special forces are located a few kilometers from this hospital, Russia being the main beneficiary of my assassination,” posted Saakashvili.
The former president of Georgia noted he had asked the doctors Concilium to decide which multifunctional and high-tech clinics and what treatment conditions he needs to be provided during the post-starvation rehabilitation process, adding as soon as this decision is made and he is transferred from this facility to the appropriate facility, he will immediately end his hunger strike.
