During a meeting with the Georgian President, Michael Roth, Chairman of the German Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee, expressed his support for European leaders calling for investigations into alleged voter harassment and manipulation in Georgia’s October 26 elections. Roth emphasized that unless independent investigations are conducted, the EU cannot classify the elections as legitimate, and sanctions may be introduced against those responsible for wrongdoing.
Roth further mentioned that anti-EU policies, such as the ‘foreign agents law,’ could impede Georgia’s EU integration and criticized the ruling party’s refusal to meet with the European delegation, highlighting the necessity for open conversations.
