Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced that former Chairman of the Government of Adjara, Tornike Rizhvadze, sustained lung damage and remains in critically stable condition after being hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The ministry confirmed that Rizhvadze received emergency medical care upon admission to Sagarejo GeoHospitals on July 7.
An investigation is underway under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to incitement to suicide. Authorities say intensive investigative actions are ongoing.
The ministry also reported that one individual has been detained under Article 238 for the negligent storage of a firearm.
