The Ministry of Internal Affairs has released an official statement regarding the incident that occurred at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Tbilisi.
The ministry says the Public Security Management Center 112 received a report that a gunshot had allegedly been heard from one of the hotel rooms. Police units, including the Patrol Police, Criminal Police, and the Special Tasks Department, were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers determined that an individual had locked himself inside a hotel room and was threatening staff members with death. Law enforcement officers detained the suspect at the scene.
The ministry confirmed that an investigation has been launched under Articles 236 and 151 of the Criminal Code, covering the illegal acquisition, storage, and carrying of firearms, as well as threats.
