“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is deeply concerned about the significant deterioration of the health of the citizen of Ukraine, Mikheil Saakashvili,” reads the statement.
As the MFA of Ukraine emphasizes that, taking into account the health of the Ukrainian citizen, meaning Saakashvili, they call on the Georgian side to provide him with proper medical care and grant the request to postpone the sentencing so that he can be transferred to a European or US clinic for further treatment.
“We also call on the Georgian authorities to ensure access of the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmytro Lubinets to Saakashvili. In the future, Ukraine will also pay special attention to protecting the legal rights and interests of Ukrainian citizens on the territory of Georgia, including Mikheil Saakashvili, who should be released,” reads the statement.
