At a briefing held together with Ahali party leader Nika Gvaramia and UNM chairwoman Tina Bokuchava, MEPs discussed the conduct of new elections in Georgia and the sanctioning of the leaders of the Georgian Dream.
Rasa Jukneviciene, Marketa Gregorova and Petras Austrevicius discussed a resolution they had initiated, calling on EU structures to sanction government officials.
Marketa Gregorova claimed that representatives of the Dream should not have the luxury of “traveling around Europe on a yacht under the Ivanishvili regime.” She noted that lies were spread during the pre-election period, and observers sent by the European Parliament saw a number of methods of manipulation in the elections.
Yukneviciene stated that the elections held in Georgia were not fair and free, and sanctions should not only apply to the most prominent members of the “Dream,” but also to others.
