The European Parliament demands the release of journalist Makzia Amaglobeili, — wrote MEP Rihards Kols on his X page.
“The European Parliament just adopted a resolution on media freedom in Georgia. As the lead speaker of the ‘Conservatives and Reformists’ negotiator on this resolution, I insisted on the need for comprehensive and strict sanctions on the Georgian regime that is repressing Georgian democracy. The European Parliament demands the release of journalist Mzia Amaglobeli, end repression of independent media, revoke “foreign agent” laws, and restore Georgian democracy,” Rihards Kols wrote.
Today the European Parliament approved the resolution titled “Media Freedom in Georgia, in particular the case of Makzia Amaglobeili” with 324 votes in favor.
